Coming Very Soon - Fully Automated CNC Reed Making
RT Shepherd and Son after approximately 12 months development with a German machining company are now almost ready to install a fully automated CNC machine to produce single blade reeds.
This machine will be able to deliver controlled production parameters such as gouging, shaping, profiling and strength measuring thus producing a measured profile specification and measured cane classification helping us to provide the quality of reed we are renowned for.

At the World Pipe Band Championships as well as other major championships in recent years, the combination of Shepherd Chanters and Reeds has been the predominant product of choice by successful bands throughout all 8 competitive grades.
As well as the pipe band market, you will also find our products heavily used on the solo piping circuit, and for the true enthusiast we compliment our range with Smallpipes and our brand new Highland Musette.
